Below are some common questions we get asked regularly:
What training or workshops do we offer?
We offer workshops and training courses that can help you to gain an understanding of mental health issues. We are currently delivering Connect 5 training, this is a great opportunity for all who live or work in Greater Manchester
You can read more about Connect 5 here
We can work with you to deliver something specific to you. We can also provide talks or presentations to start the conversation – please contact us on 01706 752338 for more information.
Where can I find out more about mental health issues?
Mind produces some very good booklets on mental health issues, mental health law and wellbeing. Click here to see the full range of information available about mental health issues.
If I contact you, will you pass my details onto anybody / other organisation?
‘You can trust us’ is in our mission statement. We take your confidentiality very seriously. We will not discuss your case or circumstances with anybody else, except in very rarer and extreme situations where we feel you, or someone else, might be vulnerable or in immediate danger.
For further, written information please see ‘How We Use Your Information‘.
I'm worried about someone's wellbeing, what should I do?
Encourage them to speak to their GP or contact us. We are unable to provide a crisis or listening service but can help with referring or signposting people. We also have ‘Get urgent help‘ details available on our website.
Do I have to live or work in Rochdale to access help?
Rochdale – Our Rochdale office is our main building and where the majority of our services are based. Rochdale opening hours are 9.00am till 5.00pm Monday to Thursday, and from 9.00am till 4.00pm on Friday.
Heywood and Middleton – We have some projects and services in Heywood and Middleton, and can arrange for you to be seen there if this is more helpful to you.
Out of Hours – Some of our services offer flexible times and venues for people, if they need appointments outside of these times. Some of our services have specific out of hours sessions such as our Counselling service.
Our wellbeing and recovery services are subject to local funding arrangements. This means that they can only be accessed for free by local residents.
Our training packages are also available outside of these areas.
Do I have to pay for the services you offer?
Most of our recovery and community services are already paid for by the Local Authority or health agencies, or those areas so as long as you meet the access criteria, you can use these services for free. We also bid for funding to provide other services at no, or low cost.
Some specific activities incur a small charge which you will be informed about at the point of assessment.
Are you the same as National Mind?
No, but we are affiliated to them. This means that we work with Mind nationally, but we are an independent, local charity. We raise our own funds to provide the support that is needed in Rochdale and District. We have our own board of trustees and work with our local authorities and Clinical Commissioning groups to provide what is needed for local people.
