The aim of advocacy in all its forms is to ensure that people are not deprived of their rights through lack of information, lack of resources or lack of someone to speak up for them.

We aim to empower people by supporting them to express their views and concerns, to access information and services, to defend their rights and to explore their choices and options. We aim to promote self advocacy through all of our work.

We are instructed by our service users and will act on the issues you feel are important.

Rochdale and District Mind provides independent advocacy services in the Tatton Unit in Tameside, Prospect Place in Rochdale and the Hope and Horizon CAMHS units located at Fairfield Hospital in Bury. We have been providing advocacy since 2001 and were the first in the country to be awarded the advocacy Quality Performance Mark (QPM) in 2009.

We are an independent service

We are independent of health & social care service providers and other NHS and Local Authority service providers. We receive funding at a commissioning level from NHS England, from Local Authorities and from Clinical Commissioning Groups. We are contracted by these bodies to provide an independent service.
